This 4-page handout has step-by-step instructions (text only) for making a ply-split garlic basket using Danish cord.

Instructions include three different sizes. Danish cord is a 3-ply paper cord available from basketry supply shops.

Structures in this basket are POT (plain oblique twining) with extra twist between the splittings, SCOT (single-course oblique twining), and eccentric splittings.

This 12-page handout has step-by-step instructions, 22 black & white photos, and three diagrams.

Cords are made from paper ribbon, using a tablet weaving threading diagram as a guide for color order and twist direction. When the cords are aligned correctly, the pattern appears automatically in the basket base as lengthwise cords are pulled through. The design continues in the the loop handles.

Indy  Ply-Split Basket
This 2-page handout has step-by-step instructions (text only) for making a small basket with cotton 4-ply cords. The structures in this basket include plain twining, plain oblique twining POT), and single-course oblique twining (SCOT). The cords in the SCOT section are worked to form triangle designs near the top of the basket. The rim is finished with a traditional basketry technique.

This 4-page handout has step-by-step instructions (text only) for making a decorative ply-split basket using 4-ply cotton cords, 3/32" diameter. The finished basket is approximately 2" high x 6-3/4" wide, including fringe. The design refers to the lotus flower. The structure used for this basket is single-course oblique twining (SCOT).
