My love of weaving and my spiritual path often come together when I create tablet-woven inscription bands and ply-split baskets. You can order the Loving Kindness Band or Lotus Basket shown below in your choice of colors. I will also be happy to create something unique for you or a loved one that will support your spiritual path, nourish joy and happiness in your daily life, or commemorate a special event such as a wedding or the birth of a child. Loving Kindness Band

Place this beautiful tablet-woven band on your home altar, or any other sacred space. The band is woven with 5/2 perle cotton and measures approximately 2-1/2" x 38". The script on this band is based on Textura Quadrata. The ends are finished with plied fringe (not shown). You may order the Loving Kindness Band in your choice of colors from the color chart below.
Commissioning a custom-order inscription band: I can weave an inscription band with your choice of words, using any of the letter styles or motifs from my books Please Weave a Message or Double-Faced Tablet Weaving: 50 Designs from Around the World. The cost for a custom-order band will depend on the letter style and complexity of other designs, number of words in the inscription, length of the band, yarn used, and other variables.
A few words about historic inscription bands: Tablet-woven inscription bands are known from England, Greece, Tunis, Persia, Turkey, India, Sulawesi (one of the islands of Indonesia), and Burma (Myanmar). In Persia, bands were woven to commemorate the birth of a child, and blessings for the mother and child were woven into the band. During the 1600s, bands were woven for pilgrims to Jerusalem, and some bear the name of the pilgrim and the date. In Burma, Buddhist prayers were woven into the binding ribbons used to wrap palm leaf holy books.
Lotus Basket

A decorative basket, approximately 2" high x 6-3/4" wide, including fringe. My inspiration for this design is the lotus flower, and the five points or petals remind me of the Five Mindfulness Trainings. The one shown is made with 1/8" diameter cotton cords. You can order it in the colors shown, or select any combination of five colors from the color chart below.
I can make the basket with other fibers, or use cords of other dimensions. The cost for a custom-order basket will depend mainly on what is required to make special cords.
A Lotus Basket kit is available, if you would like to make it yourself. The kit contains cords in your choice of colors, and detailed step-by-step instructions.
