On this page, you may find something for that special person who appreciates beautiful and unusual textiles. You can order ornaments and braids below in your choice of colors, and kits are available if you want to make the items yourself or give a kit as a gift. Be sure to see my books and tools pages since these items make nice gifts too! You can also commission a ply-split basket or a tablet-woven inscription band.
Ply-Split Star Ornaments

These star ornaments look beautiful on a Christmas tree. You can also use them instead of bows on a special gift packages, or hang them in a window. To make them, I start with 10/2 perle cotton and metallic yarns, ply the yarns into cords approximately 1/8" in diameter, and then ply-split the cords to create the stars. The stars are about 2" across.
Follow these directions to choose your own colors. Stars have two colors of cotton, plus gold metallic. Choose any two cotton colors from the color chart below. The gold cords will have gold metallic plied with your choice from these three cotton colors -- Gold, California Gold, or Beige, as shown in the photo here. Indicate which color should be the accent, and which should be most dominant. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions or special requests.
